Literature Text

I am the water that dances from the sky,
Washing away the world for the new.

I am the soil that stands below bare feet,
That refreshes the idea of where we come from.

I am the fire that fuels the soul,
At times only embers, others a blaze.

I am the air that breathes life,
With wind that supports the individual.

I am the sword that defends,
For words can cut and heal.

I am the spirit that wanders,
    Within a physical body.

I am the vessel that beats blood red,
    But breaks like ice.
This is inspired by a poem, but I do not feel like finding the book to figure out which one at this time.  Sorry!

I am currently taking a Poetry and Fiction class in college for my creative writing minor.  We did a lot of poetry, and now that I have gotten it back after my teacher has seen it, I feel safe posting it.  Note, because it was for class a lot of the poems are similar to an existing famous poet.  It is what my teacher asked for.  So I will give credit where I can.
