I feel like being a bit philosophical so this is what I have to say. All emotions are good emotions. We have to feel angry sometimes. We have to feel sad. We cannot always feel happy. The body likes balance. The problem is when emotions become dysfunctional. Anger is fine, being angry all the time and attacking people (physically/emotionally/mentally) is not okay. Being sad is good for you, but laying in bed for a year while hardly taking care of yourself is not good (it is also not technically sadness but more likely a symptom of depression. Depression and sadness really aren't the same thing).
If someone tells you to "be happy" or "stop *emotion* ", it may mean you need to reevaluate your mental health but it could also mean they are a twat and its okay to not be okay but they have not accepted this.
Self-care sometimes means telling toxic people to GTFO but also working to recognize when you are being toxic.
